It’s Good to Be Back

Today was sort of the unofficial first day of the semester. Why unofficial? Well, it was the first faculty meeting of the semester. Tomorrow will be the first day of instruction.

Last week, academic Twitter (yeah, there’s such a thing) was abuzz with first day experiences including the evergreen first faculty meeting BINGO card:

So, I’d been anticipating today for a bit. But, honestly? It was great. It was nice to be back in the company of colleagues who genuinely care about each other (even me!), the students, and the institution for which we work. It was fun to see the first year students awkwardly performing what they imagine to be “college.” I even enjoyed resetting the two classrooms that my large, heavily project-based class runs in. (But, it’s still a boatload of work with more to be done!)

Anyway, it’s good to be back!

  1. Did you blast ghetto boys’ “damn it feels good to be a gangster” throughout your travels around campus?
